Healthy Indulgence was not created from trend or convenience - it was born from necessity, resilience, and a deep desire to live well.

My journey began long before I had the words to explain it. Even as a child, my body showed signs of sensitivity and inflammation. Years later, after struggling with unexplained health challenges, everything finally made sense when I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, a stomach ulcer, and later Celiac disease. Food was no longer just nourishment - it became something that could either harm or heal.

At my lowest point, I found myself caught in a cycle I could not seem to break. I knew what my body needed, yet I kept reaching for the very foods that made me sick. Sugar, gluten, processed comfort foods - they offered momentary relief, followed by days of pain, migraines, inflammation, and emotional exhaustion. Medication became part of daily life, and I began to wonder if this was simply how things would always be.

Then something shifted.

In December 2019, a conversation with my husband changed everything. We spoke about starting a family, and in that moment, I knew I wanted more - not just to survive, but to truly live in a healthy, strong body. I made a decision that would redefine my life.

On 20 January 2020, I removed everything that triggered inflammation: gluten, refined sugar, preservatives, MSG, cow’s milk, and more. Food became simple, structured, and safe - but also, at first, incredibly restrictive.

For a long time, I believed that was the price of healing.

Until one unexpected moment changed my perspective completely.

I realised I did not have to choose between health and enjoyment.

I could have both.

A New Way of Living

What started as a necessity slowly became a passion.

I began experimenting in my kitchen - testing, adjusting, refining. Recipes that once felt impossible became achievable. Desserts became gluten-free and sugar-free, yet still beautiful and indulgent. Meals became nourishing without being boring.

Healthy Indulgence was born from this transformation - a philosophy built on a few powerful principles:

  • No cheat days - only consistency that protects and restores

  • Always gluten-free and sugar-free

  • Mostly allergen-friendly and inclusive

  • Whole, real, honest ingredients

  • Food that is both healing and deeply satisfying

 

This is not about restriction. It is about freedom.

A Lifestyle Rooted in Family

Today, this way of living is no longer something I “follow” - it is simply how we live.

 

On our farm, this philosophy has become part of our everyday rhythm. My husband, my two daughters, and I share this lifestyle together. Meals are prepared with intention. Ingredients are chosen with care. Food is not rushed - it is created, enjoyed, and appreciated.

 

But more than anything, this journey became about my children.

 

There was a time when I felt excluded - the one who could not eat what everyone else was enjoying. The one sitting with a simple meal while celebrations carried on around me. And I realised something important: No one gets excited about a bowl of salad at a celebration. Not even me.

 

I missed cake. I missed tarts. I missed sweets.

 

And that is where everything changed. I did not want my daughters to grow up feeling restricted or different. I wanted them to experience the joy of a real birthday - with cake, treats, and pudding - without eating anything that would harm their bodies. I wanted them to know that healthy eating does not mean losing the joy. It means redefining it.

 

Today, when we celebrate birthdays, our table is filled with what I lovingly call “our substitutes” - healthier versions of the foods we once loved. And something beautiful happens: You can eat freely. You can enjoy every bite. And you do not have to fear how you will feel tomorrow. That is the lifestyle we have built. Not one of limitation - but one of intention, joy, and freedom.

Why Healthy Indulgence Exists

Healthy Indulgence is more than recipes.

It is a way of thinking. A way of choosing. A way of living.

It is for anyone who:

  • struggles with food sensitivities or autoimmune conditions

  • wants to reduce inflammation and feel better

  • or simply longs for a more intentional way of eating

 

Because indulgence and health are not opposites.
